The settlement lies on the eastern ridges of the Pratizzano Spine between the mountains of the Succiso, Casarola and Ventasso Alps, near to the sources of the Secchia River.
The slopes are covered with dense chestnut woods interrupted by ancient plantations and stone walls.
The buildings of Collagna are arranged in terraces which are typical of high altitude Apennine towns.
