Cerreto Alpi has an old town centre of great architectural interest.
The inhabited area consists of three large groups of buildings on the summit of a steep sandstone slope wedged between the Cerretano Canal and the River Secchia.
The town is very near to the border with Tuscany and its position has always conditioned the life of its inhabitants. The memory of the old Linigiana Road can still be seen in the paved mule paths coasting the majestic rocky slopes of the ravine of the "Whiplashes".
