The eco-marathon on 9 July is mostly on unpaved roads; however, it is fully safe and does not include exposed or dangerous routes, in the heart of the Reggio Apennines.
The route alternates between chesnut woods, beeches, and higher in altitude, moorland. It passes by villages made of stone, small chapels hidden in the woods, fresh springs, and a lake filled with turquoise water, around which the route runs.
The challenging climb of 2,300 meters is developed from an altitude of 800 meters, to reach the highest point at 1730 meters, on top of Mount Ventasso, from which the eye can embrace the whole Apennine Reggiano as far as the eye can see, and the ridge that separates Tuscany from Lunigiana.
