Parma Welcome by Argante Viaggi proposes a stay to discover Parma and Piacenza, tasting the delicacies of the area and admiring villages and castles.
DURATION: 2 days
Day 1:
-Guided visit to a cheese factory to discover the production of Parmigiano Reggiano: visit to the production rooms, salting. The visit ends with a tasting of different ages of cheese.
-Followed by Parma City Tour, a guided tour of the city to discover the main monuments and buildings in the historic centre.
-Rest of the afternoon at leisure for visits or shopping.
-Transfer to Colorno.
-Lunch with typical products.
-In the afternoon, visit to the Reggia di Colorno and its historic garden. A former residence of the Sanseverino, Farnese, Bourbon and Maria Luigia of Austria families, the Reggia includes, in addition to the completely frescoed and furnished rooms on the Piano Nobile, the Apartment of Ferdinand of Bourbon with the Astronomical Observatory, which overlooks the Parma Torrent, and the neoclassical Chapel of San Liborio, with paintings by famous artists and the Serassi organ, used for the annual concert season.
-The evening continues in the Parma lowlands with dinner in a starred restaurant and a visit to the Culatello cellar.
-Overnight stay in a charming hotel.
Day 2:
-After breakfast departure for the province of Piacenza.
-Guided visit to the medieval village of Castell'Arquato, an enchanting mediaeval hamlet belonging to the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy" circuit, which excites with its picturesque and unspoilt views, offering the experience of an authentic mediaeval period.
-Tasting at the Enoteca Comunale (Municipal Wine Shop) with a board of PDO Piacenza cured meats and a glass of Monterosso wine.
-Following a visit to Vigoleno, a small medieval village 10 km from Castell'Arquato. Guided visit to the keep and the main floor of the enchanting castle overlooking the valley.
-Visit and tasting in a winery producing Vin Santo di Vigoleno.
