A journey through time between Lunigiana and the upper Apennines in the province of Reggio Emilia to make us fall in love with the colours of autumn-dressed ridge. Through the fascination of forgotten paths and mule tracks, we will discover people and incredible stone villages overlooking the Apuan Alps, to retrace valleys that still smell of wandering knights.
A medium-level ridge itinerary suitable for walkers accustomed to walking, curious about communities and traditions linked to the chestnut tree.
DAY 1:
Along ancient shepherds' paths we will follow the tracks of the Sentiero dei Ducati. We will encounter waterfalls, mills and precious villages in the presence of imposing white stones. Warmth and traditions waiting to be discovered. It will be difficult to get back on track! We will leave the cars in the rural village of Cecciola, where a shuttle will take you to the starting point of our walk.
Distance: 13 km. Height difference: +700 mt / -1100 mt.
*Packed lunch provided by the participants. In the evening, overnight stay in a holiday home with half board.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and visit the family food shop to choose our packed lunch from quality products. Once we set off on foot, we will ascend in altitude to reach the dishevelled Alta Via dei Parchi trailhead. This time it will be grazing meadows, Community Cooperatives and rock-cut springs that show us the way. We will stock up on chestnuts, pecorino cheese and learn from those who have been able to rise up and be reborn again and again.
Distance: 14 km. Height difference: +1000 m / - 1100 m.
In the evening, we will sleep at a hostel belonging to the Community Cooperative, which will welcome us and delight us wih another local dinner.
DAY 3:
In the carefree pace, we will visit unexpected villages and listen to the passionate voice of farmers who choose to be inspired by the slow rhythm of nature every day.
Distance: 7 km. Height difference: +300 m / -500 m.
