Two days of hiking in the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park, along the routes where the Via Matildica del Volto Santo crosses the ridge between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
Day 1 – Saturday, July 4, 2026
2:15 PM MEETING POINT in Civago (Municipality of Villa Minozzo – RE) at Hotel Val Dolo for check-in and accommodation.
2:45 PM START OF THE HIKE – Civago Villages Loop. A pleasant circular hike connecting several hamlets in the Civago area through trails, mule tracks, and country lanes.
Dinner featuring “Pizza Tasting Experience”, overnight stay, and breakfast at Albergo Val Dolo. Recently renovated in harmony with the surrounding environment, the hotel has been family-run for over 60 years and offers particular attention to its cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Alongside the restaurant service, the wood-fired oven and Francesca’s expertise allow guests to enjoy an unforgettable mountain pizza experience.
Day 2 – Sunday, July 5, 2026
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
8:30 AM: START OF THE HIKE ALONG THE VIA MATILDICA DEL VOLTO SANTO
The route follows the highest stage of the Via Matildica del Volto Santo, crossing the ridge marking the border between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, in the heart of the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park. The hike takes place in a typical mountain environment, featuring woodland sections and panoramic high ridges. The destination is a symbolic place for walkers and pilgrims: San Pellegrino in Alpe, an ancient hospice for travellers and pilgrims journeying from Northern Europe and across Italy towards Rome, offering magnificent panoramic views over the entire Apuan Alps mountain range.
Once arrived at the destination, San Pellegrino in Alpe, a short transfer will take participants back to their cars in Civago.
Approx. 5:00 / 5:30 PM INDEPENDENT DEPARTURE.
