The two municipalities of Sorbolo and Mezzani have been merged thus creating the new municipality Sorbolo Mezzani.

Why visit it

Of Roman origin, Sorbolo is an important agricultural-industrial center with a modern appearance located near a bend in the Enza river. The resort is able to combine the relaxing environment of the countryside with good quality sports facilities, good infrastructures, including one of the most modern libraries in the province, with multimedia equipment and a children's sector.

Mezzani is located on the edge of the province of Parma, a short distance from Reggio Emilia. Monuments and museums of interest in the town are the Church of the Annunziata in Mezzano Rondani, dating back to 1745 and the Church of San Michele from the 12th century, in Mezzano Superiore.

Do not miss

The most important tourist attraction in the area is certainly the Parma Morta Nature Reserve, which stretches for 5 km along the ancient branch of the Parma stream, once flowing into the Enza. It is a circular itinerary, which can be traveled on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, which allows you to observe the rich fluvial flora and the many species of animals that have found refuge in this place.

Nearby

Nearby you can visit the splendid Reggia di Colorno and about 10 km, already in the province of Reggio Emilia, you can visit the pretty village of Don Camillo and Peppone: Brescello. The town is located very close to the great river Po and it is here that the films inspired by the stories of Giovannino Guareschi starring Don Camillo and Peppone were set.
