The name of this village along the banks of river Po derives from the violent floods that used to submerge it: Polecini or Polesini are actually the little islands dragged by the river during floods that got wider until they reached the shore.
Museums and monuments that are worth a visit are Palazzo delle Due Torri, built on behalf of the Pallavicino family and now in ruins and the parish Church dedicated to the Saints Vito and Modesto dated back to the early years of the 18th century.
