Built in the XVI century, it was originally conceived as a church to host Saint Franca’s remains, patroness of Cistercian nuns.
It was later used for military purposes and converted into a school of music and a printing house before being turned into a theatre at the beginning of the XX cent by addition of an auditorium with porches and a large stage. The art nouveau-style façade is a work by engineer Gazzola
