La Casa dei Nonni Room & Breakfast is located in the heart of the historic center of Berceto, just a few steps from the majestic Romanesque cathedral and along the Via Francigena route. Here, we welcome pilgrims and travelers, offering an intimate and authentic place where time seems to slow down, surrounded by ancient stone walls and the silence of the mountains.
The furniture and décor feature restored vintage pieces, carefully refurbished by the owner, Ilaria. As part of the project’s development, workshops on furniture restyling are planned, inspired by the tradition of Apennine craftsmanship, reinterpreted for contemporary homes.
The property offers four rooms with private bathrooms, available in different types: double, twin, triple, and single. Each room is designed to ensure comfort and tranquility, with free Wi-Fi and TV, allowing guests to stay connected throughout their stay.
In the morning, breakfast is served on the ground floor with homemade products, in a charming medieval vaulted cellar that was once part of the Castle of the Rossi Counts of Berceto. This space is rich in history, where the walls tell stories of rural life and work, once closely linked to charcoal burners—the main source of livelihood for many Apennine families. Remnants of this past can still be seen in the breakfast room, including a mule feeding trough and an old weighing scale.
From April to October, upon advance request, we offer the Pilgrim’s Dinner—a convivial moment designed for those walking the Via Francigena, seeking rest and nourishment after a day’s journey.
The property reopened in 2011 after a careful renovation that brought new life to the family home. The name “La Casa dei Nonni” (Grandparents’ House) pays tribute to roots, memories, and the idea of home as a place of genuine hospitality. Before becoming a B&B, the building served as a trattoria and shelter for the mules of charcoal burners. Today, the project aims to revive that same spirit, offering a strategic stop for modern travelers and pilgrims.
