The Rolo inlay Museum bases its cultural and exhibition identity on the study of cabinet-making and decorative wood inlay techniques. The focus is obviously on local cabinet makers, but dutiful comparisons with other areas of production are not neglected.
While there are numerous public and private collections of wooden furniture and furnishings in Italy, there are few museums that offer, as the one in Rolo does, a scientific and didactic path that goes from raw materials to finished inlaid furniture. The Museum also retraces the historical events of a craftsmanship pole that, already flourishing in the 18th century, came to employ, between the 19th and 20th centuries, hundreds of workers and to sell its work even abroad.
The Museum is open Saturday 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Guided tours are also available on request on other days and times.
