Il Farneto is a natural wine business located near Reggio-Emilia in the northeast part of Italy. Our main objective is to produce a wine that represents the best qualities of our territory according to the organic laws of nature.
Il Farneto was founded in 1992, by Marco Bertoni with a strong vision and attitude towards an organic and sustainable wine making process.
Our territory counts 90 hectares of land, on the hills belonging to the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. Seventeen of these hectares are vineyards that go from 700 to 800 feet of altitude. The soil is rich of fossils, clay, silt and sand which give our wines a distinct personality, depth and unique quality.
One of our most beloved wines comes from the white grape Spergola. Additionally, we offer a variety of different wines to match the identity of our territory.
Here at Il Farneto we place a lot of emphasis on the sustainability aspect of agriculture, which becomes a dominant part in our vineyards and work philosophy. We try to experiment during the wine making process and find new creative solutions and methods, without ever sacrificing the fine balance between refermentations, sparkling and still wine.
