Situated in the fascinating complex of the Antica Corte Pallavicina di Polesine, in the Bassa Parmense, on the bank of the Po River, the Culatello and Masalén Museum is set in the ideal environment: surrounded by poplar groves and enveloped in fog, the true essential ingredient of the taste of the cured meat.
The fog, in fact, is one of the protagonists of the Museum, together with the territory, the pig (the typical black Parmesan) and the art of butchering Masalén, all necessary elements for excellent production.
In addition to the history of Culatello, iconography and illustrious quotations, a vast collection of tools from the world of the cured meat and those who make it is presented.
The visit can be concluded by sampling the delicacies of the Hostaria del Maiale e del Culatello, and those who enjoy nature walks can take the 'Po Forest' open-air extension to discover the forest and the black pig farms.
