“Family Game” for all ages: Renaissance fairy tales with digressions among the monsters of Dante’s Inferno and a special face-painting activity
Two routes to choose from: one for good weather, one in case of rain
Saturday 14 February and Sunday 15 February
Start times: morning at 10:45 a.m., afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
On the occasion of Carnival, the Castle of Contignaco once again presents a special treasure hunt designed both for younger children—so they can learn while having fun—and for adults, who can enjoy a carefree and playful moment together with the little ones.
The main route of the treasure hunt will lead participants to rediscover some of the most beautiful fairy tales that for centuries have fuelled the collective imagination and enchanted countless generations of children. Alongside the fairy tales, children will encounter stages inspired by Dante and his masterpiece, the Divine Comedy: the monsters of the first canticle, Inferno, will be introduced in a playful and entertaining way.
Starting from the Castle courtyard, children—accompanied by their parents and equipped with maps and a “traveller’s notebook”—will follow a long and mysterious chain of clues leading them to uncover numerous Renaissance-era tales, scattered along a long and winding route. The path extends alongside the remains of the Castle’s second defensive wall and then winds its way into the woodland on the northern side of the fortress.
With the help of adults, children will have to identify the moral of each fairy tale and recognise the names of all the Dantesque monsters encountered along the way. Only then will they be able to complete the hunt and reach the sweet final treasure!
Face Painting
Before starting the treasure hunt, children—if they wish—may ask for a fun Carnival-themed face painting, possibly matching their Carnival costume. Adults may also request face painting.
Ideal game for children aged approximately 4 to 14 years.
The treasure hunt features strong interaction between children and adults, ensuring fun for everyone.
Game duration: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
In case of rain, participants are advised to bring umbrellas and boots, as part of the treasure hunt will still take place outdoors. With proper equipment, the game will remain enjoyable even in bad weather; only minimal preparation is required.

Guests may also pair Contignaco wines with assorted cured-meat platters and “Solo Bruna” Parmigiano Reggiano produced by the Castle’s own farm.
It is also possible to take part in the ESCAPE CASTLE of Contignaco, based on the enigmas of medieval cryptography.
