Aperitifs and Tastings by the Fireplace
Saturday 14 February and Sunday 15 February, at midday, in the afternoon and at dusk
The Castle of Contignaco once again offers special guided tastings of its wines. Founded by the Pallavicino family, the Castle belonged for more than two centuries to the Aldighieri of Parma, the same family as Dante Alighieri. According to legend, the Supreme Poet himself stayed at the manor during the years of his exile. During the tastings, the mysterious connections between Dante and the fortress will be evoked.
The tastings will be guided, with the focus on the wines produced in the Castle’s cellars.
Guests will be able to sample a wide selection of Contignaco wines: Bianco Ignatius, Bianco Contignaci Turris, Bianco Zelinda, Rosso del Sasso, Rosso del Rio dei Predoni, Rosso Rubeum Durantis. All the Castle’s wines, the result of a long and careful maceration of the skins in the must and left unfiltered, are produced using ancient winemaking methods that enhance the flavours of local tradition.
Furthermore, since June 2021, the wines of the Castle of Contignaco have been welcomed into F.I.V.I. (Federazione Italiana dei Vignaioli Indipendenti), a large family of winegrowers that promotes the quality and authenticity of Italian wines.
A variety of non-alcoholic options will also be available for children and for those who do not drink alcohol.
Lunches, Dinners and Aperitifs
It will also be possible to have lunch and dinner at the Castle, pairing the tastings with assorted local cured meats and Parmigiano Reggiano produced by Azienda Agricola Contignaco, made from Bruna Alpina cows, whose protein-rich milk is renowned for its superior quality compared to that of Frisian cows. Mixed salads and other local specialities will also be offered.
