A new appointment with art at the Oratorio della Madonna delle Grazie in Vigoleno, where the exhibition ‘I disastri della guerra: da Goya ai nostri giorni(The Disasters of War: From Goya to the Present Day)’ is scheduled for spring and summer 2026.
Some of the engravings produced by Francisco Goya during the Spanish War of Independence in the early 19th century are juxtaposed with photographs by contemporary war photographers such as Andreja Restek, Ugo Lucio Borga, Giorgio Bianchi and Gabriele Micalizzi.
A narrative that denounces the absurdities of armed conflicts past and present. Artistic techniques, languages and vastly different historical contexts share the same ethical responsibility: to recount and bear witness to war so as not to normalise it.
