The city of Piacenza welcomes the new year with the live show of Voglio tornare nel anni ‘90, a light show with music and animation that after having been a hit on summer stages presents a renewed format for the arrival of 2025.
The evening opens with a DJ set by Dj Popi, who from 9pm will warm up the atmosphere to leave room for the show from 10.30pm.
Ahead of the evening's unique atmosphere will be the traditional New Year's Eve concert at the Municipal Theatre, which on 31 December at 6 p.m. will close out 2024, a year that has seen celebrations for the 220th anniversary of its foundation. The Farnesiana Orchestra, conducted by Sesto Quatrini, will perform on stage, with a programme offering the most famous compositions by Giuseppe Verdi, Gioacchino Rossini, Giacomo Puccini (to end the Puccini year), Amilcare Ponchielli, Pyotr Il'ič Tchaikovsky and Georges Bizet.
In the province, the celebrations open with ‘L'Ultima dell'Anno’ in Castell'Arquato, a guided tour with an afternoon toast. Dinner and toasts away from the hustle and bustle of the city can be found in the manors of Rivalta and Gropparello, while in Bobbio, celebrations are held in the piazza with DJ sets.
