Fontanelle is a small country town just a few kilometres from the right bank of the River Po in the lowlands around Parma, along the Strada del CuIatello.
It is known for being the birthplace of Giovanni Guareschi as well as for the production of articles in straw and wicker which have been made there for over a hundred years.
Places to visit are Guaraschi’s birthplace and the 16th C Church of San Martino.
Gourmets should know that Fontanelle is on the Culatello (a type of cured ham) Route.
