The farm “La Cippaia” started its activity in 2016 at Enzola (Poviglio), in the countryside between Parma and Reggio Emilia. The farm is characterized by a snail breeding 10.000 m2 wide, based on the method developed by the International Institute of Heliciculture of Cherasco (Cuneo, Italy). Snails (Helix Aspersa Typica) are grown in the open air, allocated in 36 pens, and feeded with fresh vegetables, with no chemical food or pesticides, in order to create a favourable habitat that reproduces the natural biologic cycle.
Last September, the Agriturismo “La Cippaia” was opened, with the aim of offering visitors guided tours of the snail farm, didactic activity for kids and a pleasant and relaxing athmosphere, while enjoying the varied snail-based cuisine or the traditional food of the region.
The farm is opened all year round upon request and offers catering either in a dining room (max 15 people) or in the large garden outdoor.
