Rivalta Castle
Admiring the dream of a distant era that relives in front of your eyes is possible: until 1 June 2025, in the Castle of Rivalta (Pc) on the quiet river Trebbia, you can admire ‘The Tables of an Ancient Piacenza Family’ in the historic noble residence, renewed every year in the layout, personally curated by Count Orazio Zanardi Landi and his Family, appreciated by antiques enthusiasts, art historians, collectors and tourists who wish to experience the splendour of great history. You will be enveloped in the unique atmosphere of an ancient and emblazoned Castle, loved by the royals of England and Holland as a special destination for a stay in the Bel Paese, where several rooms are still decorated with precious trousseaus, porcelain, and carpets that have always belonged to the prestigious history of the Rivalta manor and to the noble dynasty that still resides there: that of the Zanardi Landi Counts. From the monograms on the napkins to the coded liveries of the servants, everything speaks of a dynasty that has made history in the territory of Piacenza.
Count Orazio Zanardi Landi, president of the Association of the Castles of the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza and Pontremoli, inaugurated the evocative exhibition: ‘I am delighted to present an exhibition of unique pieces that belonged to my family so that anyone can experience pieces of everyday history first hand: tassels, organdies, lace, silverware, crystal and rare porcelain,‘ explains Count Orazio Zanardi Landi. “This is not a museum exhibition of more or less precious objects, but an authentic reconstruction of the historical journey of the Zanardi Landi family through the real ”mise en place’ that the family used on their tables over the centuries. You can admire something that has the profound flavour of ‘lived’ in various rooms of the Castle with tables set for great occasions, worthy of a princess welcoming her guests for a grand reception.
At the Rivalta Castle bookshop it will be possible to purchase unique pieces specially made for the exhibition, inspired by the collections of the Zanardi Landi Counts.
