The Correggio Museum hosts the exhibition "Viaggio tra Otto e Novecento. La Collezione Andrea Baboni: un percorso creativo tra pittura e collezionismo" (Journey Between the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries. The Andrea Baboni Collection: a creative journey between painting and collecting).
The exhibition, curated by newly appointed director Francesca Manzini and Francesca Baboni, presents a selection of artists and works spanning art between the two centuries. The exhibition divided in 4 sections includes, among other artists, Giovanni Fattori, Silvestro Lega, Telemaco Signorini, Giuseppe De Nittis and the local artist Alfonso Chierici.
A specific section is devoted to the artistic period of collector Andrea Baboni, with pastel and oil works made in the 1960s and 1970s, in which leaves oscillate between abstractionism and figuration. During those years, Baboni established himself as a young emerging artist, participating in exhibitions in Florence and Milan. His training began under the guidance of Carmela Adani, in her workshop, where he learned artistic techniques.
