XNL Piacenza, centre for contemporary art, cinema, theatre and music, from 14 September 2024 hosts Out of the Grid. Italian zine 1978-2006. Post-movement pre-internet 3.0.
A project taken from the publication of the same name published by Les presses du réel (2023) dedicated to Italian editorial self-productions, Out of the Grid starts from a research by the artist Dafne Boggeri, in collaboration with Sara Serighelli and Ilenia Arosio, Marta Zanoni, Leonardo Caldana and Maddalena Manera.
The aim is to give visibility to those autonomous movements that originated on paper and then moved on to other mediums: from postage stamps to answering machine messages, from radio to fax, from floppy disks to vinyls, magnetic tapes, CDs, VHS or train carriage sides, all the way to digital.
A programme of three free public meetings will accompany the exhibition.
Concurrently with XNL Piacenza will be Sul Guardare Atto IV - Valentina Furian.
