Emilia, the flavor of Italian Food Valley
Visit Emilia is recognized as Italian Food Valley boasting, in the provinces of Parma Piacenza and Reggio Emilia, 30% of the total Italian economic value of PDO and PGI food products.
Emilia is the destination of taste, the area where the best food and wine excellences of Italy are produced, recognized all over the world, where the culture of food is celebrated every day.
Emilia, the land of the slow mix, where every holiday is always different and exceptional, an exclusive experience of culture, nature, food and wine, is the only one in which is possible to savour over 15 traditional products recognized with the PDO and PGI marks. The only one where you can discover the production of 266 Parmigiano Reggiano dairies and 20 of Grana Padano, and the 132 cured meat factories dedicated to Prosciutto di Parma, the 13 producers of PDO cold cuts from Piacenza (Coppa, Pancetta and Salame), the 14 of Salame Felino, the 23 of Culatello di Zibello. In Emilia you live and breathe the history of 26 producers of the Consortium for Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia. And toast with the precious bottles of 147 PDO wine cellars. There are also 8 Michelin-starred restaurants, which give good value to quality food and wine, enhancing the territory as a protagonist, to be worldwide known and recognized.
In Emilia there are the Food Museums, often hosted in ancient castles, scattered on the hills or in splendid naturalistic areas, each one dedicated to a main product of Parma gastronomy from pasta to tomato, from wines to cured meats.
Finally we present something new in the food and wine tourism sector the Emilia Food & Wine Experience product network: the narrative and experiential thread that binds the places, that connects the producers and actors of food and wine tourism in the area, ready to involve visitors in original itineraries in the soul and flavours of the Food Valley.
